About Patty:
Patty has always considered herself a true visionary and spirited entrepreneur. In April 2003 Patty opened the doors of Down Dog Yoga, just six months after taking her very first yoga with none other than Baron Baptiste himself. She was so inspired by his teachings and powerful practice, she knew she had found her life purpose.
Few yoga studios existed in the city at the time, and there was no telling how things would go. Soon, students from all over the Washington area began to join the Down Dog community, becoming friends and fellow yogis. Gradually, what was once a simple, nondescript red brick building off the C&O Canal transformed into the heart of a vibrant yoga community and a revered landmark in our Nations Capital.
Today, Down Dog Yoga has grown to include four locations throughout the DC region, and is one of the best-known and most well-respected studios in the country.
Locals and visitors from every walk of life flock to our studios to experience our popular classes, and become a part of our warm and welcoming community.
More than a decade later, thousands of yogis have flowed through Patty’s flagship studio in Georgetown, experiencing the teachings of Baron Baptiste that first inspired her. It is not unusual to see her students lined up to secure a spot in her packed classes.
Patty and her Down Dog studios have been featured in numerous publications, including Yoga Journal, James Patterson novels and has been voted Best Yoga Studio numerous times in DC, MD and VA. Down Dog was recently named DC’s National Treasure by Women’s Health and Fitness Magazine.
